FILM AND HUMAN RIGHTS/SOCIAL JUSTICE WORKSHOPS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE MADRES OF PLAZA DE MAYO -- BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

For Students, Faculty and Professionals

The Martin Buber Institute (NY), and the University of the Association of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) invite, students, faculty and activists to join us in Argentina for a series of workshops and seminars on Film, Photography and Human Rights/ Social Justice.
The program includes formal classes by some of Latin America's foremost intellectuals and activists, field projects, visits to ecological sites, cultural immersion and the legendary Buenos Aires fun-nights. Ideal for study-abroad or for school alternative breaks.

Tuition includes lodging, tours, and all social and cultural and all activities in the city. The courses of studies is divided into three main components: 1. formal classes-seminars and workshops 2. group lab assignments and 3. field projects. This is a very unique program with a focus on issues related to creative arts and social justice. The program draws from the best faculty and practitioners from Argentina and other Latin American countries. One weekend is spent in an "estancia" (country estate). There will be optional Spanish classes offered. Lectures will be conducted in English or with simultaneous translation.

In addition to the regular course of studies, the program will take the students to visit with local NGOs working on housing, workers-owned factories and cultural development, labor unions, shanty-towns, political organizations, industrial leaders, justices of the court, legislators, government officials and student leaders. We will also enjoy guided city tours, cultural events, performances, shoots, cinematek and free time to enjoy the legendary Buenos Aires nights. Buenos Aires is a most exciting cultural capital and the center for progressive Latin American culture, theatre, museums, music, dance and literature.
